A level 1 coaching qualification should be taken by anyone who wishes to be involved in coaching competitive amateur boxing within an England Boxing-affiliated club.

A level 1 coaching qualification enables coaches to assist a Level 2 qualified coach within an England Boxing-affiliated club.

Delegates must be the age of 17 to take a level 1 coaching course.

Please note: coaches must be 18 to register with England Boxing.

New courses are added regularly across the England Boxing regions, so please keep checking back if none are immediately available.

Any queries should be directed to courses@englandboxing.org

Where and when are Level 1 coaching courses being held?

Please click on the regions below to find out the courses we have available for you to book on at present. If there is no course advertised in your region England Boxing welcomes you to book a course in any other region. All courses are advertised until they become fully booked.

Delegates can book any course in any region

All courses are £160 and run over four days, payment must be made at the time of booking via debit or credit card, payment will secure the delegates place on the course.

The delegate will receive a payment confirmation email after booking. Pre-course information will then be sent with course criteria from England Boxing within 72 hours of the start of the course.

What if I need to cancel or change my course booking?

England Boxing asks that seven days’ notice is given, in writing, if a participant is no longer able to attend a course. A refund or transfer to another course can then be arranged.

Cancellations/Transfers required after the seven-day notice period are only accepted should there be a change in the participants’ health/medical circumstances. A medical note/written evidence will be required for this to be processed.

Please put all cancellation requests in writing to courses@englandboxing.org

What to expect on your first day

In the lead-up to the first day of your course, you can download the Level 1 Coaching Handbook by clicking here. The course will run from 9am to 5pm unless otherwise stated.

Note: Please bring sporting clothes, pads and gloves to each session. We also advise delegates to bring their own packed lunch as catering is not always provided.

What happens once I’ve passed?

Certificates are only issued to delegates who have successfully completed the Level 1 course and have then registered with England Boxing as a coach.

This can be done via our online membership system, The Vault, by clicking here.

Should a delegate fail the course, they will be notified by the course educator on the day and will then receive relevant feedback.

If they wish to take the course again, delegates are welcome to book onto another level one coaching course.

Please note: delegates must complete the full course again in order to be assessed on all four coaching principles.
