The third and final session of the Women’s Aspire Programme has been set for Sunday 22nd September after a hugely successful second session took place at the English Institute in Sheffield on Sunday 7th July.
A total of 70 boxers – from Schools to Elite level – along with 23 club/regional coaches and 13 England coaches were in attendance, working towards the objectives of having fun, enjoying the day, making new friends and learning.
The day began with an ice-breaker of ‘What are your hopes and fears?’, a task which allowed everyone to be open and honest with their emotions and feelings.
Attendees were then split into two smaller groups where Schools and Juniors and Youth and Elite women working together.
The remainder of the day consisted of sparring, technical work, padwork, some video analysis of sparring and a strong-women circuit.
In addition, an educational piece highlighted the criteria needed to become a Talent Pathway boxer – and each received a copy of a RAGG sheet with technical and tactical areas highlighted.
Lead coach for the Aspire Programme, Amanda Coulson, said: “All boxers can be proud that they continued to give 100 per cent throughout the day and left with big smiles on their faces – objectives hit!
“We shall look forward to the final session in September when we will look to build on this year’s two excellent sessions so far.”
