Resztan guarantees bronze for England

England boxer Demie-Jade Resztan is guaranteed at least a bronze medal at the EUBC Women’s European Championships 2019 after winning her quarter-final on day four in Madrid, Spain.
The New Astley boxer came through a tough bout with Belarus’ Yana Burym to get the nod on a 3-2 split decision at 48kg.
Her victory was the perfect motivation for the other two England boxers in action, who both won their respective bouts to make it a hugely successful day for the Three Lions.
Boxing at 69kg, Sandy Ryan of One Nation ABC, also won by a slender 3-2 spilt margin against Poland’s Karolina Koszewska.
England’s other victory was more comprehensive as the army’s Karris Artingstall forced standing counts in her victory over France’s Mona Mestian at 57kg.
Today (Wednesday) sees more quarter-final bouts, with Ryan taking on Wales’ Rosie Eccles in an all-GB clash, while Artingstall faces the host nation’s Jennifer Romero Fernandez.
