Three extra weights at the lower end of the classifications have been added for the England Boxing National Youth Championships 2020 – which are now open for entry.

Male weights range from Under 40kg to Over 91kg, while female weights go from Under 39kg to over 81kg and there are classes for Youth (year of birth 2002 and 2003) and Youth Cadet (year of birth 2003 only).

All boxers must be registered with an England Boxing-affiliated club and produce a BCR1 medical book, while all coaches must have an in-date England Boxing lanyard.

Entries should be sent to the relevant region regional secretary, along with the entry fee of £5 per boxer.

By allowing a Boxer to enter this championships, the boxer’s parent or guardian is deemed to have consented to the capture of official video recording and photography of their child by England Boxing, or any other England Boxing-authorised media outlet.

Moreover, they agree to allow for his or her name, photographs and video footage to be used for publicity and marketing purposes by England Boxing and any other England Boxing-authorised media outlet.

The Regional Association Championship rounds of competition will be completed by 2nd February and the National pre quarter-finals by 9th February.

At the pre quarter-final stage, the North West will host East Midlands, Tyne, Tees and Wear will entertain Yorkshire and Southern Counties will be visited by Eastern Counties.

The quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will take place at The Connexion in Coventry on 14th, 15th and 16th February.

This year’s winners included Emily Asquith, Caroline Dubois and Gemma Richardson, who all went on to win gold medals at the European Youth Championships 2019 in Bulgaria in September.

All boxers who reach the national stages of the competition will wear gloves and headguards of England Boxing partner Sting Sports UK. Boxers can either purchase their own Sting headguards, or use those provided.
