Duel success for England in Wales

England secured a 9-5 in Wales in what was a first duel of 2020 for the Three Lions.
Boxed at the Sports Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, bouts were contested at Schools and Junior level.
On Saturday’s day one, Repton’s Luke Rodda lost by a split decision to Mickey Sullivan while East Middlesbrough’s Joceyln Killkenny secured a split decision success against Ffion Wilmott to leave the overall score tied at 1-1.
Rotunda’s Cain Alexander lost a close split decision against Saad Abdullah, but Sharpstyle’s Thomas Varey beats Cory Jones and Hall Green’s Joshua Rose triumphed over Harvey Williams.
Olympian’s Aaron Bird the defeated Harry Williams, East Middlesbrough Ashleigh Lane was beaten by Ellie Taylor om a split and Kent Gloves’ Jimmy Dean Woods saw off TJ Price for an overall England lead of 5-3.
On day two, the visitors were also victorious by a 4-2 scoreline.
Wins were secured by Alexander, Rose, Lane and Wood, while Rodda and Kilkenny narrowly missed out, on the wrong end of split decisions.
Most importantly, it proved to be an excellent learning experience for all, leaving coaches Q Shillingford, Shiney Singh, Laura Sargeant and Rhuari Kane pleased with the team’s overall performance.
