TDCs link regions with Talent programme

A ‘fantastic’ link-up between regional associations and the England Boxing Talent Development Camps (TDCs) has been established at the start of 2020 – and is set to be taken replicated around the country.
For last weekend’s TDCs hosted at Dagenham and Burmantofts gym, a selection of 10 to 15 boxers from the relevant regions (London and Yorkshire) were invited to join in with the training.
It gave those who took part a unique glance at what it is like to train for international-level competition.
A similar tie-in was also staged at the February TDC in the Tyne, Tees and region at Phil Thomas School of Boxing.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity for regional boxers to train alongside England Talent Pathway boxers and have a session delivered by the England coaches,” said England Boxing’s Development Coach Amanda Coulson.
“It gives those who attend a superb insight into what it takes to box at that higher level and provides huge inspiration and motivation.”
England Boxing would like to thank the regional coaches who have made this happen – Owen Spensley, Timothy Hill and Nik Wiley from Tyne, Tees and Wear, Mike Bromby, Ken Waddington, Brendan Warburton and Alan Haque from Yorkshire and Paul Strutt, Preya Dhanecha and Brian Smith from London.
The England Talent Pathway coaches will be making contact with other regions throughout the year to offer similar TDC opportunities.
