England Boxing National Junior Championships 2020 postponed
March 16, 2020 | by Matt Halfpenny
England Boxing has taken the decision to postpone the England Boxing National Junior Championships 2020 semi-finals and finals until later in the year as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The competition was due to take place at Exhibition Centre, Liverpool on Saturday 28th March and Sunday 29th March.
With the health and safety of boxers, coaches, officials and spectators in mind, and the potential knock-on effects, together with the overall integrity of the Championships, regrettably the decision has been made to postpone and seek an alternative date when the Coronavirus situation and overall burden to services has eased.
“We have not taken this decision lightly, but feel it is the best course of action considering the obvious concerns of our members with regard to the Coronavirus and the need for clarification with the competition dates less than two weeks away,” said Gethin Jenkins.
“While we know that boxers who have reached the semi-final stages of the Juniors will be hugely disappointed by this postponement, we ask for their understanding at this difficult time when the overall situation needs to be taken into account and must be the priority.”
England Boxing will continue to follow Government advice and will endeavour to announce a new date for the England Boxing National Junior Championships 2020 at the earliest available opportunity when all the necessary factors have been considered.
Spectators tickets purchased in advance will remain valid for a new date, or a refund can be issued.
Updates regarding our other Championships will follow as the situation develops.
