Why clubs need your support to #KOCOVID19: Rosehill ABC

It’s been a frustrating time for Rosehill Boxing Club who, having just raised the funds needed to install a new ring, have now seen the Coronavirus Pandemic hit.

The London region club was formed in 1947 and, after having had several homes over the years, the club is now based at the David Weir Leisure Centre in Middleton Road, Carshalton.

Like all boxing clubs, Rosehill has been forced to close its doors to members until further notice in order to follow the government’s social distancing guidelines, putting a huge strain on the club’s finances.

With rent now due for the next quarter, the club have, with the help of the #KOCOVID19 England Boxing campaign, set up its own just giving page.

Prior to the lockdown, 65-plus boxers were regularly attending the clubs sessions (40 Juniors and 25 Seniors).

In the past 12 months or so, the club have gone from strength to strength, having had a Junior National Champion last season. The club have also recently been featured in Boxing News magazine as a club on the rise.

In the future, once the club resumes, Rosehill hopes to provide more outreach working and is looking to support young people struggling with Mental Health issues.

In a little over a week the club has raised almost £600, which proves how valued the club is in the local community, but is still has a way to go to reach its £2,500 target.
