Double award win for Eastleigh ABC

Eastleigh ABC won both the Sports Club of the Year and Project of the Year awards at the recent Eastleigh Sport Awards.
The accolades were in recognition of their efforts in delivering a successful outreach project in partnership with their local youth centre and Active Partnership for Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Energise Me.
The initiative was funded through satellite club money enabling the coaches to go and deliver additional training sessions at their local youth centre.
They introduced local young people to the sport in a familiar environment with a view to encouraging them to join the club thereafter.
The club, under Head Coach Danny Jackson, has gone from strength to strength since reforming just a few years back, with this project and their awards a testament to that progress.
“It’s great news for boxing in the area and for the club,” said Coach and Club Chairman Stuart Rooney.
“We hope more development is to follow. We hope to get into schools with a similar project and format.
“The club has six other coaches and another four or so helping – and it’s been great teamwork to get to this point.”
