Clubs and gyms in areas under new tier 4 Coronavirus restrictions must close immediately

All boxing clubs and gyms located in areas that have been put into the new tier 4 of the government’s Coronavirus restrictions must close with immediate effect, England Boxing can regrettably confirm.
Prime Minster Boris Johnson yesterday (Saturday 19th December) announced tougher measures for London and parts of the South, South East and East of England – that came into force at 00.01am this morning (Sunday 20th December) – following a sharp rise in cases that has been attributed to a new strain of COVID-19.
It means all indoor leisure venues, including indoor gyms, must close until further notice, with a review of the new restrictions expected to take place on 30th December.
Areas moved into tier 4 are: Kent, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey (excluding Waverley), Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth, Rother and Hastings, London (all 32 boroughs and the City of London), Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Luton, Peterborough, Hertfordshire and Essex (excluding Colchester, Uttlesford and Tendring).
Outdoor exercise is limited to with just one other person while socially distanced, or with those from your household or bubble. No padwork or sparring is allowed with those outside your household or bubble.
Clubs that are operating in areas that are in tiers 1, 2 and 3 can continue to open, but must continue to follow the England Boxing guidance for the relevant area.
A further update will be circulated on Monday 21st December.
