Free boxing sessions run by not-for-profit social enterprise BOXWISE – in tandem with England Boxing-affiliated clubs – are aiming to help young people in London carve out a brighter future for themselves.

A 13-week programme is being delivered by Rathbone Boxing Club, Fitzrovia and Miguel’s Boxing Gym, Brixton to help attendees build confidence, improve their health and well-being, and maximise the opportunities open to them.

Working with accredited England Boxing coaches in a safe and controlled environment, BOXWISE hopes to instil purpose in its participants, to help them build the foundations for a long and successful future.

Sessions run at Rathbone for under 18s on Mondays from 4.30pm and for 18 to 25-year-olds on Thursdays from 5.30pm.

Miguel’s sessions, meanwhile, run for 18 to 25 year-olds on Mondays from 12noon and for under 18s on Mondays from 4.30pm.

At the end of each, BOXWISE provide a free hot meal for all students, sourced from local businesses, ensuring support for the local communities that the venues are located in.

All equipment, clothing and PPE is provided free of charge for all participants.

Following the completion of the programme, those who have worked hard and shown dedication and commitment throughout their course are offered a number of further progression routes.

They include the chance to gain qualifications through further education, pursue employment opportunities, support and mentor young people at BOXWISE and receive help in training for an England Boxing Level 1 Coaching qualification.
