Members of England Boxing-affiliated club Green’s ABC are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge this spring to raise money for their gym and for charity.

A team from the Middlesbrough-based venue, from the Tyne, Tees and Wear region, will be scaling the heights on Saturday 16th April.

They are hoping to raise £1,000 for the two causes, with the charity money going to the Neonatal Ward at The James Cook University Hospital in the town.

The cause is closed to the club’s heart, with several members ‘experiencing first-hand the unbelievable job they do’.

Sheena McLeod, who volunteers at the club, said: “Over Christmas, one of our coaches had a baby that needed support when she was born, and the Neonatal ward did a fantastic job.

“To say thank you, we have set up this challenge to help raise money for the ward.”

The mountains of Whernside (736m), Ingleborough (723m) and Pen-y-ghent (694m) are collectively known as the Three Peaks and make up the challenge.

The peaks, which form part of the Pennine range, encircle the heads of the valleys of the River Ribble and of Chapel-le-Dale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the North of England.
