‘Exceptional’ prep camp for England Schools squad in Lions’ Den

The England Squad for the Schools European Championships 2022 took part in what Development Coach Amanda Coulson described as an ‘exceptional’ prep camp this weekend.
The boxers travelled up to the Lions’ Den in Sheffield, home of GB Boxing, as the build-up to the start of the competition in Turkey on 10th August intensifies.
The two days included a number of gym bouts that were refereed by four England Boxing R&Js, adding authentication and preparing boxers for what is to come.
The R&Js to take part were Nigel Helliwell, Jed Cheema, Emma Smith and Billy MacDonald.
Coulson said: “This was an exceptional prep camp for our young lions team who will be heading to the School European Championships shortly.
“We would like to say a big thank you to all the clubs and boxers who came along to present tough opposition for our team, as well as the R&Js who gave up their Sunday to referee the gym bouts and add a bit of realism.”
