Schools Euros 2022: Three wins out of four for England on day one

Team England secured three wins from four bouts on the opening day of the EUBC Schools European Championships in Erzurum, Turkey.
George Francis got the ball rolling for the the Three Lions in the very first bout of the Championship as he claimed a unanimous victory over Adel Saris over Israel at Under 42kg.
Next up was Tony McCarthy at Under 60kg and he secured a 4-1 win over Riduan Gashi of Albania before Under 80kg boxer, Tobias Taylor, was another unanimous winner, this time over Boran Altuntas.
The evening session saw Bailey Wilding competing at Under 66kg and he looked to be well in control of his bout against Romania’s Fatan Petru.
However, a prolonged nosebleed for the Mikey’s boxer saw the bout stopped and his opponent awarded a RSCI victory.

Bout 11: Under 60kg – Lexie Walker v Cassie Henderson (Ireland)
Bout 18: Under 50kg – Paddy McDonagh v Eldin Hodzic (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Evening session
Bout 6: Under 42kg – George Francis v Ali Baghishov (Azerbaijan)
Bout 17: Under 57kg – John Hodgkins v Salman Toprak (Turkey).
