England Boxing is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Boob Protect, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding female athletes in the ring across the country.

This collaboration follows an extensive consultation with England Boxing’s Performance Boxers to ensure the product meets the highest standards of safety, helping to prevent long-term breast trauma and related health concerns.

Despite stepping into the ring almost daily, many female boxers have little to no awareness of breast injuries or the importance of protection. Unlike their male counterparts, who are required to wear groin protectors, chest protection for women remains optional. With the chest being a legal scoring area, repeated impact is common, yet many coaches and athletes lack knowledge about the risks and available protective solutions, leading to limited encouragement of breast protection in the sport.

Boob Protects’ innovative design allows the product to seamlessly fit into any sports bra or crop top, remaining completely concealed while contouring to the body for a comfortable and breathable fit. It also minimises breast movement when running, jumping and through dynamic movement, alleviating breast pain overall.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in the evolution of women’s boxing, as England Boxing remains dedicated to fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for all athletes.

Speaking on the partnership between the two organisations, England Boxing’s Women & Girls Officer Laura Sargeant said: “Through this exciting venture with Boob Protect, we are really aiming to raise awareness and ensure that vital information becomes widely known across the sport at all levels.

“We want to give all female boxers the knowledge and option to make informed decisions about their safety and protection in the long run.”

Suzie Betts, founder of Boob Protect, added: “Boob Protect is proud to partner with England Boxing as they take an important first step in making breast protection an integral part of the sport, launching this initiative on International Women’s Day.

“This milestone marks a significant shift in prioritising the safety and well-being of female athletes, ensuring their protection is as fundamental as mouthguards and headgear. By embedding breast protection as a standard requirement, England Boxing is leading the way in combat sports, championing athlete health, performance, and equality at every level.”

To support this initiative, Boob Protect is offering a generous 20% discount to all female members of England Boxing using the code found in today’s newsletter.
