Board Member – Anna Cain
Anna has been the Principal of the Boxing Academy, an Alternative Provision Free School in Hackney since 2009. The school offers high quality education and development to the most hard-to-reach young people, realised through the discipline and ethos of boxing.
Her experience as an adoptive parent gave her insight into the challenges faced by disadvantaged children in the school system. Coming from a background of programming, research and project management, she has overseen the development of the model and growth of the school, from a small project in a boxing gym to the multi award-winning school rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
Over the years Anna has given her time as a trustee to projects such as Chefs in Schools, the Campus and many other Sport for Good Programmes. She is an LLE (Local Leader in Education) and holds a 1st class joint degree in History and Information Technology, and an MSc in History of Science Technology and Medicine from Imperial College London. Outside work, Anna is a keen gardener and retired cricket coach.
