Samera Ali
Samera Ali is a dedicated Level 2 Boxing Coach and Grade C England Boxing Official, with a profound commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in the sport. As a mother of four, including three daughters who compete in kickboxing, Samera is deeply invested in fostering a supportive environment for young athletes.
With over 11 years of experience as a Vice Chair Governor at Colebourne Primary School, she has served on the Education and Vulnerable Children Overview and Scrutiny Committee for Birmingham City Council, advocating for the needs of children in her community. Samera also helps run the Midlands Female Squad, empowering female boxers and encouraging participation in the sport.
Samera’s passion extends beyond traditional coaching. She has worked with domestic violence survivors, teaching non-contact boxing skills to enhance their confidence and mental well-being. Additionally, she has delivered boxing sessions during Mental Health Week at a local girls’ school, focusing on the positive impact of sport on mental health.
Her personal experiences have shaped her advocacy for females from ethnic minorities who face barriers in sports like boxing. Recognized for her contributions, Samera was honoured as the Female Coach of the Year in 2024. As a board member and chair of the EDI subcommittee at England Boxing, she is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all voices are valued and represented.
