Team England’s good form in the Brandenburg Cup continued into the second day, as the youth squad recorded four victories from six, including three RSCs.

Lions ABC boxer Osama Mohamed got Team England’s second day off to an explosive start, securing an RSC over his Canadian opponent Owen Paquette in their under 63.5kg bout.

It was Mohamed’s first bout of the tournament and his display is sure to have whet the appetite of the spectators and the England coaches.

Next up for Team England was Levi Barnes, fresh from his opening day victory. The Jennings Gym boxer produced a highly competitive display against Danish opposition in the form of Lucas Bauer.

The under 67kg bout could truly have gone either way but, ultimately, the decision went in favour of the Dane with a 3-2 split.

In the second bout of the afternoon session, Scunthorpe ABC’s Ebony Jones found herself in another tough bout as she came up against Denmark’s Sofie Rosshaug.

In a similar manner to the opening day, Jones produced a great performance but saw a unanimous decision defeat to her under 50kg counterpart.

The evening session saw Nelson Birchall’s first bout of the 2022 Brandenburg Cup. The Jennings gym boxer defeated Retias Wheaton of Canada by an RSC in the third round of their under 60kg bout.

Hoddesdon boxer Louie Ward made it a third RSC of the day in his bout with Swedish under 60kg opponent Nick Zulawinski.

The Home Counties man overwhelmed his opponent to force the referee into a second-round stoppage.

Last up for Team England was an under 71kg bout between Westree boxer Jimmy Dean Wood and Levente Gemes of Hungary.

Wood produced an assured performance to earn a unanimous decision victory over his Hungarian counterpart.

Under 92kg boxer, Damar Thomas had been set to face Arianit Krasniqi in the morning session, however, the German was forced to pull out of the bout.
