Team England secured another two gold medals, one silver and one bronze on the final day of action at the Brandenburg Cup 2023.

The Three Lions had already won two gold medals in the previous session on day three through Amber Moss-Birch and Ellis Panter and it would be Zayn Ahmed and Leighton Birchall who added to the haul.

Ahmed defeated his Ukrainian opponent Danylo Peretokin to win the Under 54kg category, whilst Birchall beat Dennis Balko of Germany to take gold at Under 57kg with both medals coming by way of unanimous decisions.

Hamilton Joyce and Leon Hughes added a third and fourth silver medal for Team England after both fell to narrow defeats.

Joyce succumbed to Under 60kg German opponent Mansour Rahmati, whilst Hughes fell to Ireland’s Adam Olaniyan in the Over 92kg category.

Joe Turner took to the ring to right his day three defeat, beating Arsen Zamnukhov of Ukraine to win the Under 51kg bronze medal.

Fresh from winning a silver medal, John Tom Varey was back in action in a training bout and collected valuable experience in a unanimous decision victory over Under 51kg Justin Sahin of Germany.

Team England also claimed the best male boxer of the tournament through Burton Park’s Ellis Panter, while Lauren Mackie got the best female bout award for her display against the USA.

In total, the Three Lions will bring home four gold, four silver and one bronze medal from a highly successful tournament in Lindow, Germany.
