‘Determined’ and ‘committed’ Holmes runner-up in two TASS awards

Merseyside and Cheshire region boxer Olivia Holmes has finished as a runner-up in two categories of the TASS Stars 2021 Awards.
The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme supports up-and-coming stars of the future who are aged 16-plus get the very best from their sporting and academic careers.
It works in partnership with a network of academic institutions to back more than 600 athletes who are eligible to represent England across 32 sports.
Support packages include strength and conditioning, lifestyle, physiotherapy, psychology, nutrition, a medical scheme and an athlete personal award.
Each year TASS celebrates the fantastic feats of some of its very best athletes via its awards, with Rotunda ABC and England Talent’s Holmes, 19 (pictured above, right), was nominated in the Most Determined and Most Committed categories – despite a highest number of nominees being put forward in any year to date.
Nominations were accepted from practitioners, coaches, parents/guardians, friends, teammates and the athletes themselves.
The Most Determined award category was for those who have overcome challenges or demonstrated resilience in order to pursue their sport and/or study while the Most Committed award category was for those who have shown dedication to study and sport, including excellent time management and efficiency in balancing demands.
British triple jump champion Naomi Ogbeta, and rower and TAAG Chair Becky Wilde, were among the panel members who put together the shortlist of contenders and decided the eventual winners.
