Female boxing coaches invited to join online programme
January 26, 2021 | by Matt Halfpenny
England Boxing is now in a position to extend its female online coaching programme to women across the country, following a successful pilot.
Late last year, an initial cohort of 20 female coaches was first brought together and it has continued to gather every two weeks.
Now, any female coach who has achieved an England Boxing coaching qualification and is currently registered as a member, or was at the end of the 2019-20 season, is eligible to join as the programme is broadened out.
The long-term aim is to increase and support female coaches within England to help the continued growth of the sport among women and girls.
As has been the case with the pilot, the extended programme will be delivered via online group learning using Microsoft Teams (coaches need to have access to a smart phone, tablet or laptop device) over four months, with two sessions per month.
Between sessions, coaches will be required to reflect and explore topics and themes and be prepared to feedback to the group.
“So far we have delivered eight online sessions and the feedback has been very positive,” said England Boxing’s Coaching Consultant, Chris Porter. “With that in mind, we are delighted to now be able to extend this opportunity to more female coaches within England.”
The programme is part of England Boxing’s wider plan to provide ongoing support and develop an ongoing coach learning culture.
