McCormack forced to settle for silver

England’s Pat McCormack was forced to settle for silver in his AIBA Men’s World Championships 2019 final at Weltwerweight (Under 69kg).
The 23-year-old from Birtley ABC was defeated by Russia Andrei Zamkovoi after receiving a cut above the eye that forced the bout to be stopped prematurely.
As a result, the bout went to the scorecards at that point and the home boxer was adjudged the winner.
It still represents a fantastic performance from the North Eastener, who is on the GB Boxing programme and has high hopes of medalling at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
