Midlands hold medical clinic as Return to Boxing continues

Boxers from Midlands Region attended a medical clinic over the weekend as England Boxing member clubs continue to step up their return following the easing of government Covid-19 restrictions.
Midlands Club Support Officer Mick Maguire and Tamworth Boxing Club joined forces to facilitate the session on Saturday (8th May), which saw carded boxers renew their annual boxing medicals ahead of any proposed return to action (restrictions allowing).
A total of 73 boxers from six clubs took part in the clinic, attending at pre-arranged times and following all social distancing protocols, with all successfully completing their medicals.
Tamworth Boxing’s Lead Coach Alan Keast said: “Mick and myself identified that with the recent announcement of England Boxing Championship 2021 dates, and that sparring for under-18s is now permitted, it was time to plan a way of boxers renewing their medicals ahead of that.
“Clubs attended on a pre-allocated time slot within their own ‘training bubbles’ and all social distancing protocols were considered and applied during the clinic.
“It was a very successful day and I must thank the doctor in attendance and all the volunteers who allowed us to make the day take place and be such a resounding success.”
Maguire added: “My colleagues in the England Boxing CSO team are busy helping to arrange clinics such as this one all over the country and it is one more positive step toward our clubs and their boxers returning to activity within their club environment.”
