Ann Jay has been appointed as the new Medical Registrar for the North West Region.
She was voted in to take up the role at the region’s recent annual general meeting.
Jay will replace the long-serving Henry Herbert, who will remain as Interim Secretary until a suitable replacement has been found.
Registered with the Sandygate Boxing Club in Burnley, she is looking forward to working with clubs across the North West area.
“I originally got into amateur boxing when I was a registered nurse and provided medical cover at ringside, before becoming an official five years ago,” she said.
“I applied to do the role because, having had a medical background and a good relationship with
the North West regions’ doctors, I felt I was in a position to fulfil the needs of the clubs, boxers and coaches.
“During my tenue, I would like to give coaches and boxers a better understanding of the role of the registrar to avoid conflict and frustration.
“I will be I aiming to avoid unnecessary delays in registrations and maintain good communications
with clubs, coaches and boxers.”
England Boxing’s Membership Services Manager, Lynette Mayo, said: “I would like to thank outgoing Medical Registar Henry for his thorough commitment to his time in that role.
“His dedication to the clubs in his region has been without question.”
