England Boxing is delighted to confirm that the nine England Boxing Performance Pathway Coaches who took their IBA one-star coaching qualification earlier this year have all passed.

The successful coaches are Adrian Fleming (Leigh ABC), Barry Philpot (Army Boxing Association), Dean Sugden (Newark ABC), Gurpreet Sandhu (Box Smart Elite), Ian Tennant (Truro ABC), Phil Wilson (Little Oakley), Rhuari Kane (Golden Boy), Steve Bryant (Trowbridge) and Wayne McCarte (Hartlepool Elite).

The coaches took their qualifications in March and April of this year, with all nine completing their courses online – a new format for 2023.

With nine coaches following in the footsteps of the five England Performance Pathway coaches who also qualified earlier this year, it shows a commitment made by England Boxing to the upskilling of Performance coaches in offering international CPD opportunities.

This commitment is set to continue, with several more Performance Pathway coaches already accepted onto the next round of IBA online courses.

England Boxing’s Head of Performance Chris Connelly said: “It is really pleasing to see even more of our coaches complete the IBA one-star course.

“In doing so, the coaches have taken a significant step in developing their skills and enhancing their expertise. This emphasises how commitment to learning and development is paramount on the England Boxing Performance Pathway.

“We are fully committed to providing our coaches with every opportunity to develop which, in turn, ensures that we are equipped to provide the best support to our talented boxers in order for them to reach their full potential.”
