Nottingham to host Juniors 2021 semis and finals – and entries now open!

The Harvey Hadden Sports Village, Nottingham will host the England Boxing National Junior Championships and Junior Development Championships 2021 semi-finals and finals, it can be confirmed – and entries for the competition are now open!

Junior Championships

The Junior Championships are open to Junior Cadet (born in 2006) and Junior (born in 2005 or 2006).

Entry weights are from Under 36kg up to over 80kg in both categories and for both genders. Entrants must have had two previous bouts on entry.

Closing dates for receiving entries are set by regional associations, but all entries must be with the Championship co-ordinator by close of play on 27th September 2021.

The pre quarter-finals are to be completed by 3rd October with Yorkshire to box off against Tyne, Tees and Wear, Midlands against the East Midlands and Home Counties against Eastern Counties.

Quarter-final bouts, to be completed by 10th October, will see North West boxers take on those from Yorkshire / Tyne, Tees and Wear, Merseyside and Cheshire paired with Midlands / East Midlands, Western Counties face Home Counties / Eastern Counties and Southern Counties and London go head to head.

The Junior Development Championships are open to boxers in Class A (born in 2006) and Class B (born in 2005).

The national semi-finals and finals stages of the competition in Nottingham will take place on Saturday 16th October and Sunday 17th October, as previously advised. The postcode for Harvey Hadden is NG8 4PB.

In all categories, a boxer’s BCR1 medical book must be produced at the initial weigh-in and at all subsequent rounds, and the boxer’s medical must be in date for the duration of the championship. All boxers must be members of England Boxing and an England Boxing-affiliated club.

It is advisable to only book accommodation for the semi-finals and finals stages of the competition if a refund can be claimed on cancellation. Otherwise, it is recommended to wait until that stage of the competition is reached before making a booking.

Boxers, coaches and clubs should note that participation is only permitted providing a signed waiver (as part of the form) regarding Covid-19 is completed.

Covid-19 procedures relating to the competition must also be followed and failure to do so could result in removal from the competition and disciplinary action.

England Boxing continues monitor and follow Government advice in regards to precautions and mitigations caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic and will update as directed once any additional advice is available.
