The Team England Junior European Championship squad were on the road again this past weekend, heading to Hereford for a three-day preparation camp.

The team were hosted by Vince McNally and his staff at South Wye Boxing Academy from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th June, with England joined for the camp by the Wales Junior European team.

Both squads combined for traditional training and sparring sessions, in collaboration with Welsh Boxing coach Zack Davies.

The camp was led by England Coach Phil Knight, with Naadrah Hafeez, Dave Johnstone and Mick Maguire also in attendance.

England Performance National Coach Mick Maguire said: “We are very grateful to Vince McNally for providing us with such a fantastic facility, Sarah for keeping the team fuelled with wonderful home-cooked food at the on-site canteen, and to South Wye coach Paul Catten for giving up his weekend to drive the team to and from hotels to the gym for training.

“We were also extremely honoured to have the Wales team with us for the weekend and we hope to explore more collaboration with them in the future.

“I would also like to express my gratitude to all the clubs and coaches who brought boxers in over the weekend to provide top-quality sparring for the team.”

This was the second camp of four that will take place for the team, ahead of the EUBC Junior European Championships in mid-July and Phil Knight commented: “The team are looking very sharp.

“We have provided them with a variety of puzzles and different sparring this weekend and they have risen to that challenge without exception.”

The next prep camp will take place from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th July in Sheffield.
